13 Days Jomsom Muktinath Trek

Your trip begins by arriving in Kathmandu. We visit the major UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Kathmandu. It is known as Kathmandu Day Tour on our 2nd Day. Today we are going to visit Pashupatinath, Swayambhunath, and Boudhanath. After we finish packing, we shall fly or Drive to Pokhara. The flight shows you the dazzling Himalayas and green hills adorning the geography of the nation. We start walking to Ulleri along the trails which present the mesmerizing beauty of the surrounding hills. As we walk on the banks of the Bhurungdi Khola.

We reach Ghorepani Poonhill a famous and as well as Magical viewpoint of the Annapurna Himalayas. Rejuvenate the tired soul by resting on the warm waters of Tatopani and later head towards Ghasa. Our road takes us along the banks of the Kali Gandaki River and through the beautiful Rupse Chhahara. From Ghasa, we head to Marpha which is famous for its apple-derived alcohol- Marpha.

The road leads us to Kagbeni where we shall observe the ancient fortresses and monasteries. From here, we will go to Muktinath. This temple is visited by both Hindus and Buddhists as a pilgrimage site to undertake a spiritual journey. After praying in this temple. We need to head to Jomsom to buy some souvenirs. We shall get on a quick flight to Pokhara and ultimately to Kathmandu where the trip shall end.

Itinerary

Today, we arrive at the Tribhuvan International Airport and meet our representative who will transfer you to your hotel. In Kathmandu, you can explore the streets and enjoy the delightful Newari architecture as well. Overnight in Kathmandu.

Today we shall explore the major UNESCO world heritage sites of the Kathmandu valley which include Swayambhunath Pashupatinath, and Boudhanath. These sites are revered destinations for Buddhist and Hindus all over the world. If time permits, we can visit the Kathmandu Durbar Square as well. Later, we shall indulge in preparation for the trek that lies ahead. Interact with the guides and porters who will accompany you during the trek. Overnight in Kathmandu.

Today, we shall wake up early and head to the airport for a quick flight to Pokhara which lasts for about 30 minutes. Upon arrival in Pokhara, we shall collect our stuff and begin the trek to Ulleri. Our trail takes us through the uphill roads. The trek follows the Bhurungdi River for the entire length. Ulleri is about 5 hours away from Pokhara. We can find many teahouses and small lodges here. Overnight in Ulleri.

The trek from Ulleri to Ghorepani takes us along the banks of the Bhurungdi Khola. We need to cross bridges and walk on a steep trail to reach Ghorepani. We also pass Banthanti and Nangethanti along the way. Ghorepani is a resting point in the hilly region and people living here are mostly of Gurung and Magar ethnicities. The views of the Annapurna Himalayas are enchanting from the village. Overnight in Ghorepani.

Today, we head to Tatopani along the Ghara Khola. The walk takes us through the foothills of the Nilgiri Mountains. The trail goes down the Sikha village and later ascends to Tatopani. Tatopani is a hot spring which is used by people to relax. We can enjoy the hot springs which are believed to cure skin diseases and muscle aches. Overnight in Tatopani. Today, we head to Tatopani along the Ghara Khola. The walk takes us through the foothills of the Nilgiri Mountains. The trail goes down the Sikha village and later ascends to Tatopani. Tatopani is a hot spring which is used by people to relax. We can enjoy the hot springs which are believed to cure skin diseases and muscle aches. Overnight in Tatopani.

We need to start early on order to reach Ghasa. The trail goes along the Kali Gandaki River and the beautiful waterfall of Rupse Chhahara. We pass Kabre and Pairothapla before arriving at Ghasa. The Ghasa village sits on the lower parts of the Kali Gandaki valley and it is famous among the locals for being a hub to watch birds. Overnight in Ghasa.

Today we need to head towards Marpha. The road is a combination of ups and downs and goes on the banks of the Lete Khola. As we walk on the eastern parts, we arrive at Larjung village and then Marpha. The Kali Gandaki River and its serene banks keep us company along the trek. Marpha is beautifully decorated with apple orchards and vegetable farms. Overnight in Marpha.

From Marpha, we walk on a trail that gradually reaches the Jomsom village. We head towards Kagbeni for the day. On the trek, we can observe the deepest gorge in the world which is carved by the Kali Gandaki River. Kagbeni is an ancient settlement and you can see huge fortresses and ancient monasteries. Overnight in Kagbeni.

We shall head towards the major highlight of the trip which is the holy Muktinath temple. To reach here, we must walk through the banks of the Kali Gandaki River and join the trail at Khingar. The Muktinath temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and people come here from around the globe. Bath in the holy waters pouring from the 108 taps and pray in the temple premises. Overnight in Muktinath.

The trip is reaching its end and we need to head to Jomsom today. We retrace our steps as we pass Ekle Bhatti and reach follow the Kali Gandaki River. The trail goes through the desert like landscape and ultimately reaches Jomsom. Jomsom is a place that is famous for its strong winds and windswept landscapes. We can catch surreal glimpses of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountains from here. Overnight in Jomsom.

Our motive for the day is to reach Pokhara. We need to wake up early to catch a quick flight to Pokhara which takes about 30 minutes. The scenic flight provides us spectacular view of the mountains. At Pokhara, we can visit destinations like Davis Falls, Mahendra Cave, Bat Cave, and International Mountain Museum. In the evening, boating at the Phewa Lake offers glorious setting of the serene lake and the Machhapuchhre (6997m) adorning the background. Overnight in Pokhara.

Today, we shall head back to the Kathmandu valley. We go through the Prithvi Highway and along the way, we will be greeted by the lavish sites of greenery, mountains, and hills. The drive also joins the beds of the Trishuli River all the way to Kathmandu. In Kathmandu, you can explore the city to shop for gifts and souvenirs. Overnight in Kathmandu.
